Flavor Quest Cookbooks
Along my food journey, I have always been interested in creating layers of flavors from various regions across the globe. I get bored and tired of the same old thing. Creating new dishes is what excites me and keeps me going as a person. I love cooking for people and seeing their smile at the end of a long day. I definitely have my own ideas in the kitchen, as I have never formally worked under any other chef. It allows me to have a fresh perspective when it comes to food and a way of putting flavors together in a way that is truly unique.
My good friend Brent said, “you really know how to take basic ingredients and turn them into something special.” So, I wrote book one to share some secrets of the restaurant kitchen with you along with empowering the home cook.
In the first book, I encouraged you to explore your kitchens and to try new recipes to embark on your own personal food journey (quest). With the second book, the same goals apply, but with a whole new set of tools/tricks from my arsenal for you to experiment with at home. I intentionally set up the Flavor Quest Series so that you would have the opportunity to mix and match various recipes and dishes that work well together. It’s all about the Garanimals principle for me (if you remember the old school clothing line that helped you when you were a kid and didn’t know a thing about what to wear with what. It was all about matching the zebra shirt with the zebra pants for the perfect outfit.) Think of my books as the same type of tool for the home cook, where you have dishes/flavors that work well together to create the ideal meal. My books are building blocks in that while they work great independently, they have much more power working together.
Volume one was the foundation and now volume two introduces more dishes into the mix which afford you brand new options to create a menu for a large gathering or a romantic dinner for two. I really love being able to share my tricks from the restaurant and catering world to you at home. It puts a smile on my face to receive feedback from those that currently have the first book, so please continue to let me know about your personal triumphs with my books. It’s what drives me to pursue my true passion of helping everyone to be a better cook.
I truly believe that everyone can cook; they just need a great recipe and a little bit of spare time. Part of my mission is to encourage others to explore their kitchens with these proven recipes and maybe even inspire them to create their own. Food provides an exciting world of possibilities and unlimited enjoyment. Embrace this experience (quest) and bring your family and friends along for the ride of a lifetime.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, it’s time to get started and continue forward on your ‘Flavor Quest’, or get you started on your initial journey. Remember to never take it too seriouslyand have fun!
Keep on Cooking,
Dave
